Dholpur Red natural sandstone, more popularly known as Agra Red or Forest Fire sandstone has become widely used building stone after it was greatly used in the construction of Agra Fort and Delhi Fort. The Agra red sandstone got its name from the extraction and its proximity to the Agra city. Also, it is mainly mined at Sarmathura, district Karoli, Rajasthan and North West India. Even after ages, this sandstone does not show any weathering effect. Due to its soft nature, Dholpur red natural sandstone is used in stone handicrafts and is fit for both exterior and interior use.
